Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar initiated a Rs.318.90 crore sewage collection project in Saravanampatti, SBS Nagar, under Ward No. 10 of Coimbatore North Zone, aimed at improving sanitation for nine wards including Chinnavedampatti, Saravanampatti, and Vellakinar.
Coimbatore: In a significant move towards enhancing urban sanitation, Honorable Mayor Mrs. Kalpana Anandakumar inaugurated a sewage collection project in Saravanampatti, SBS Nagar, falling under Ward No. 10 of Coimbatore's North Zone, on March 14, 2024. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs.318.90 crore, aims to improve sewage management in nine wards including Chinnavedampatti, Saravanampatti, and Vellakinar, which were recently added to the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation.

The initiative marks a milestone in addressing long-standing sanitation challenges in these areas, promising a significant positive impact on the health and well-being of the local communities. Present at the inauguration were North Zone Chairman V. Kathirvel, council members Kavitha, Kathirvelusamy, Palanisamy (e) Siravai Siva, Poongodi Somasundaram, Assistant Commissioner Sridevi, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board Regional Chief Engineer Chellamuthu, Administrative Engineer Senthilkumar, Assistant Administrative Engineer Pattan, Municipal Corporation Assistant Engineer Ezhil, Assistant Urban Planner Sathya, Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan, Assistant Engineer Shakthivel, along with other municipal officials.
