Coimbatore Corporation Launches Battery-Operated Vehicles for Solid Waste Management

Coimbatore Corporation has introduced 10 battery-operated vehicles for solid waste management, funded through CSR initiative by ICICI Bank, in a move towards sustainable city management.


Coimbatore: In a significant step towards sustainable urban management, the Coimbatore Corporation, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative funded by ICICI Bank, has launched 10 new battery-operated vehicles. These vehicles, each valued at Rs. 5 lakh, cumulatively worth Rs. 50 lakh, are designated for solid waste management tasks within the city.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Honorable Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Muthusamy, who flagged off the vehicles for public service. The event was also attended by the District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Deputy Mayor Vetriselvan, former MLA N. Karthik, former Thondamuthur Panchayat Leader Ravi, Zonal Leaders, Standing Committee Leaders, Council Members, and Corporation officials.



These eco-friendly vehicles are part of Coimbatore's ongoing efforts to enhance its solid waste management system, emphasizing environmental sustainability and efficient city operations.



The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the cleaner and greener maintenance of Coimbatore, aligning with the city's broader objectives of sustainable development.
