TNAU inks MoU with ICAR-Indian Institute of Seed Science, Mauon

TNAU is the recipient of Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s (ICAR’s) prestigious Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 ranked TNAU at 5 th position in Agriculture and Allied Sector Category.


Coimbatore: A Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) was signed by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore with ICAR-Indian Institute of Seed Science, Mauon 04.01.2024 for facilitating Postgraduate Students’ Research/Training.

TNAU is the recipient of Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s (ICAR’s) prestigious Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 ranked TNAU at 5 th position in Agriculture and Allied Sector Category. Whereas, ICAR-IISS is one of the premier agricultural research institutes under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), engaged exclusively to coordinate and conduct seed science research countrywide.

Dr. N. Senthil, Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, TNAU, Coimbatore welcomed the gathering and detailed the significance of seed scienceresearch. The parties having discussed fields of common research interests and allied activities between the two institutions have decided to enter into long-term collaboration for promotion of students’ training and quality postgraduate research in cutting edge areas such as Quality seed production, Seed Technology Research and Technology dissemination.

The authorities Dr. R. TamizhVendan, Registrar, TNAU, Coimbatore and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director, ICAR-IISS, Maurepresented by Dr.A.Anandan, Principal Scientist (Genetics & Plant Breeding) & Station Incharge, ICAR-IISS, Regional Station, Bangaloresigned the agreementand exchanged in presence of Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice- Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore where she remarked about the essentiality of this academic collaboration and the way forward.

Dr. R. Umarani, Director, Directorate of Seed Centre, Dr. V. Manonmani, Professor and Head, Department of Seed Science and Technology, Dr. M. Prasanthrajan, Professor and Head, Centre for Agricultural Nanotechnology, TNAU, Coimbatore and other delegates from both the parties attended the signing ceremony and graced the occasion.
