Farmers Arrested for Protesting Against Revenue Divisional Officer in Coimbatore

Over 50 farmers were arrested for protesting without permission against the Revenue Divisional Officer in Coimbatore, demanding a cart path be upgraded.

Coimbatore: Farmers from J. Krishnapuram revenue village in Sulur taluk of Coimbatore have long utilized a cart path in a patta land.

Recently, they requested the Southern Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to upgrade this path to a geological cart path.

However, the RDO stated that such an upgrade was not feasible. Following unsuccessful negotiations, around 50 farmers gathered in front of the district collector's office to protest against the RDO. They raised slogans condemning the RDO and participated in an indefinite wait-out protest.

The police arrested the farmers for protesting without proper authorization, leading to a tense situation in front of the district collector's office.
