DMDK members request to name a section of the Raja Mill Road in Pollachi after the late founder Vijayakanth, honoring his contributions to cinema and various social welfare initiatives in the region.

Coimbatore: Following the demise of DMDK founder Vijayakanth, various political parties including DMDK have been paying tributes across Tamil Nadu. As part of these tributes, a commemorative event was held in Pollachi's Thiruvalluvar Grounds, where political leaders and social activists paid floral tributes to Vijayakanth's portrait. The event was attended by members from DMDK, AIADMK, Communist Party, Congress, and DMK.

Speakers at the event praised Vijayakanth's contributions to the film industry and his various social welfare activities for the poor and needy. The gathering included Pollachi MLA Jayaraman and other political leaders.

In a press briefing given by DMDK district secretary Jegan, it was mentioned that Vijayakanth had filmed many of his movies in the Pollachi area and was actively involved in several social welfare projects there. To commemorate his contributions, DMDK members have requested the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the city council to name a part of Raja Mill Road near the hotel where Vijayakanth stayed, after him.
