Three People Waiting for a Bus Meet Tragic End as Booth Roof Collapses Near Udumalpet

Three laborers tragically lost their lives in Udumalpet, Tamil Nadu, when a booth’s roof collapsed while they waited for a bus. Preliminary investigations point to heavy rain weakening the structure.

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu - In a heart-wrenching incident, three individuals waiting for a bus near Udumalpet, Tamil Nadu, lost their lives as the roof of a booth they were sheltering under suddenly collapsed. The victims have been identified as Manikandan (28), Gautham (29), and Murali Rajan (35), all laborers from the area.

The incident took place in the vicinity of the Sawadi hostel located in the Madathikulam Kollum Panchayat area near Udumalpet in Tirupur District. These laborers had gathered at the booth, as they did every morning, to catch a bus bound for Palani, where they worked.

Tragedy struck unexpectedly when the roof of the booth caved in, leaving the three laborers seriously injured. Despite efforts to rush them to the Udumalai Government Hospital, all three succumbed to their injuries, casting a pall of sorrow over the community.

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Udumalai Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death.

Preliminary investigations by local authorities suggest that the continuous heavy rainfall in the Udumalpet area since the previous night may have weakened the structure, leading to this tragic accident.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the region, highlighting the vulnerabilities of temporary structures during adverse weather conditions. The loss of these three lives has left the community in mourning and serves as a poignant reminder of the need for stringent safety measures during adverse weather.
