Ex-serviceman who died in an accident in Alangiyam - Tribute with the tricolour

Kesavan, an ex-serviceman from Alangiyam near Dharapuram, died in an accident. Retired ex-servicemen paid homage to his body with the tricolour.



Tirupur: Retired army personnel paid homage to the ex-serviceman who died in an accident at Alangiyam near Dharapuram with the tricolour.

Kesavan (56) is a resident of Alangiyam Kamaraj Nagar near Dharapuram in Tirupur district. He was an ex-Indian Army man and was currently working as a tehsildar vehicle driver at the Kangayam taluk office.

Kesavan, along with his wife Parimala (46) and family, left Dharapuram yesterday morning and went to the Rasathavalaka temple near Muthur to offer prayers.

Kesavan walked on the roadside in front of the temple at 3.30 pm yesterday. At that time, a car going from Muthur to Kangayam accidentally hit Kesavan and left without stopping.



Kesavan, who suffered severe head injuries in the accident, was immediately rescued by his family and neighbours and sent to kangayam government hospital in an ambulance for treatment.

The doctors who examined Keshavan there said he was already dead. Following this, the police registered a case and are investigating the matter.



His body was brought to his residence in Alangiyam Kamarajar Nagar near Dharapuram where it was kept for the public to pay their last respects.



Kesavan, who had retired from the Army, was led by ex-servicemen Mayilsamy, who had retired from the army, in a procession carrying the tricolour and saluted his body with the tricolour.



Dharapuram Divisional Officer Tahsildar and government officials were present in large numbers.
