BJP leader Annamalai's padayatra to incite communal riots - Minister Ponmudy

Minister Ponmudy said BJP leader Annamalai's walkathon was only to incite communal riots. He also accused Annamalai of doing this to spoil the harmony in society.

Coimbatore: Chandrayaan has set foot on the moon. But Modi has not yet visited Manipur for the violence. Minister Ponmudy also urged all the people to boycott the BJP government in the coming Lok Sabha elections for instigating religious issues.

On the occasion of kalaignar centenary celebrations, the DMK organised a function at Venkitapuram near Sulur in Coimbatore district to distribute welfare schemes.

Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Ponmudy and Excise Minister Muthusamy participated in the event and distributed welfare assistance to the public.

Later speaking on the dais, Higher Education Minister Ponmudy said, Kalaignar Karunanithi praised him for continuously working for social justice right from the time he was studying. "When Chief Minister Stalin decided to place a pen statue of Karunanidhi in the sea and started work on it, some Tamil traitors objected to it," he said.

He said the chief minister had gone to the court and got the verdict that the pen could be placed in the sea. Minister Ponmudy, who narrated a short story about the history of Nandhi in chidambaram temple, went to the Chidambaram temple when Iravadiyayar, who belongs to the Nandanar community belonging to the Scheduled Caste, went to the Chidambaram temple. He said that there is a history that Nandi moved there because some of the upper class people there stopped him and that the reason for the social justice problems now is that the Lord did not invite Nandana to the temple.

Dmk minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who was on a hunger strike on behalf of the DMK demanding exemption from NEET, criticised the AIADMK for criticising it and said those who threw food in the garbage at the conference had no respect for the people.

Criticising BJP leader Annamalai for going on foot to incite communal riots, the minister said annamalai was doing it to defame the friendly society.

Even Chandrayaan has set foot on the moon. But Modi has not visited Manipur so far for the violence. Ponmudy also said that all the people should boycott the BJP government in the coming Lok Sabha elections for instigating religious issues.

Speaking to reporters later, Minister Ponmudy said, He said that isro's entry into the moon is welcome and it is a matter of great pleasure that Veera Muthuvel, who played a key role in it, hails from his hometown, Villupuram.

The minister said chandrayaan-3's landing on the moon was a victory for the whole of India and tamil nadu chief minister M K Stalin had first congratulated isro scientists for their success. "I extend my best wishes to the scientists," he said.

Earlier, the DMK used children to bring seats for the public at the event, leaving those who had come to attend the meeting to frown.
