Municipal Chairman Investigates Widespread Damage from Heavy Rains in Valparai

Heavy rains have continued to lash the estate areas of Valparai in Coimbatore district, causing a retaining wall to collapse in residential areas. This has left the public in fear as their buildings are collapsing and being damaged due to the heavy rains. The municipal administration has assured the public that they would be taking safety measures and steps to reconstruct the damaged buildings.



Coimbatore: The estate regions around Valparai in Coimbatore district are still being pounded by heavy rains.

A retaining wall fell in residential areas such as Anna Nagar, MGR Nagar, Kalaignar Nagar, and others as a result of heavy rains during the night.



Municipal council president Alagusundaravalli and vice-president Senthilkumar, municipal commissioner Perpeti Terence Leon and 9 ward member Kamatchi Ganesan, municipal engineer Venkatachalam Oversil, and municipal officials inspected the site.

The canal building in front of Chandrasekhar's house in Valparai's Anna Nagar area collapsed, as did the house's wall.



Similarly, the retaining wall in front of one Selvaraj's house in the MGR Nagar area fell, damaging the retaining wall in the rear portion of Santosh's house in the Kalaignar Nagar area.

The public gets alarmed as a retaining wall in a residential area collapses and is destroyed as a result of heavy rains. The local government informed the public that it will shortly implement safety measures and begin construction on the damaged buildings.
