Tirupur: Residents of the Quaid-e-Millat Nagar area have been protesting against the construction of a cleaning plant in the area.

Municipal Administration Minister K N Nehru met with local residents on Wednesday. He stated in an interview that the project is being relocated.

The city administration was in the midst of establishing a cleaning plant at Quaid-e-Millat Nagar in Tirupur city's Ward 45. Despite two rounds of talks with the district government, the people of the area have been resisting the establishment of a sanitization centre.

Municipal Administration Minister K N Nehru met with local residents on Wednesday at the project site to review the project's utilities.

However, people of the area expressed their solidarity in requesting that the project be implemented in a different location, rather than the same location where they were afraid of the project.

Speaking to reporters, Minister K N Nehru, Despite informing the public about the benefits of the scheme, they are continuing to protest and hence the project is being taken to an alternate place.

It will be implemented at an alternate location at an additional value than the value placed at this place, he said.

Corporation Mayor Dinesh Kumar, MLA Selvaraj, MP Subbarayan, District Collector Christuraj, Corporation Commissioner Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar and others were present during the inspection.
