Farmers gathered Dharapuram tahsildar's office demanding scrapping of zero value scheme

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department has illegally acquired the lands in Dharapuram where pattas were granted under the Inam Abolition Act, which is the right of the farmers. More than 500 farmers took out a procession in Dharapuram and gathered at the divisional officer's office and staged a protest demanding cancellation of the zero value scheme, which was also claimed by the Wakf Board.

Tirupur:Farmers gathered at the divisional officer's office at Dharapuram, demanding the cancellation of illegal zero-value land granted pattas under the Inam Abolition Act, which is a farmer's right.

The Tamil Nadu Small Inams Abolition Act- 1963 was enacted in Dharapuram, Tirupur District, and settlement tahsildars were appointed for the purpose, and after thorough investigation, ryotwari pattas were handed to farmers ploughing the land.

In this situation, the registration department and the Waqf Board have started illegally converting the land into zero value in the documents.

The Government of Tamil Nadu should immediately stop this act which affects the small and marginal farmers and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department has allotted 12 lakh acres of land across Tamil Nadu. The wakf board's move to zero value 78,000 acres of land through the registration department has created a lot of turmoil among the farmers.

In the absence of any government order and no court order, more than 500 members of the Tamil Nadu Farmers Protection Sangh took out a procession and gathered at the Dharapuram divisional officer's office and raised slogans and staged a protest demanding an immediate end to

the land grab.

They also warned that if the government did not stop this illegal act, they would organise a massive agitation by mobilising lakhs of farmers across Tamil Nadu.
