Coimbatore Commissioner of Police announces New Roundabouts to alleviate Traffic congestion

Coimbatore City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan said that 32 existing signals have been removed and roundabouts have been set up there after examining the traffic congestion in the city.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan has said that new modern signals are being installed in the required areas in the city.

Coimbatore City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan inaugurated the new modern traffic signal at Selvapuram in Coimbatore.

He was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the signal, which has been digitalized across the signal pole with a remote control facility.

Then he stated,

While there were already 62 traffic signals in Coimbatore city, considering the traffic congestion, 32 signals have been removed and roundabouts have been set up there and traffic is being restored.

New modern signals are being installed wherever required. While the signals have been removed and roundabouts have been set up, there has been a decline in traffic violation cases and the public can lodge a complaint directly with the police control room or through social media regarding over-speeding vehicles.

Appropriate action has been taken on various such complaints. There have been allegations that private buses are plying at high speed in metropolitan areas. Strict action will be taken if buses are plying at such high speed.
