Inebriated youth attack Govt. bus driver near Kangayam

Tirupur: In a shocking incident, a group of inebriated youth beat up the driver of a state-run bus in the middle of the road near Kangayam in Tirupur district. The entire incident was captured on video and has gone viral on social media since then.

Tirupur: A Government bus from Palani, which was headed to Palani from Erode was being driven by Meghanathan.

It is reported that some youth from Vadapalani near Arachalur were driving their vehicle near the Government bus in an inebriated condition, and refused to give way to the bus.

The bus driver allegedly honked at the vehicle of the youth to ensure the bus was not delayed. This enraged the youth who were already in an inebriated state.

When the bus was headed near Kangayam Government Arts College, the inebriated youth who were half-dressed reportedly blocked the bus riding on two-wheelers and demanded for the bus to be stopped. The youth also allegedly went to the driver's seat, grabbed the driver Meghanathan's shirt, dragged him and thrashed him in the middle of the road.

Passengers in the bus who witnessed the entire incident rescued the Government bus driver from the inebriated youth and sent him away. Meghanathan immediately lodged a complaint with the Kangayam police station. However, no action has been taken thus far by the police with regard to Meghanathan's complaint.

The video of the Government bus driver being assaulted by the inebriated youth has gone viral on social media.
