Home delivery of ganja through WhatsApp: Police tighten the noose in Dharapuram

Two persons have been arrested for smuggling ganja on a bike during a vehicle check at Kundadam near Dharapuram. During the investigation, he ordered through a message on WhatsApp. They have confessed that they used to home deliver ganja if they paid on Google Pay.



Tirupur: Police have arrested two persons for smuggling ganja on a two-wheeler near Dharapuram in Tirupur district.

A police team led by sub-inspector Prathap was conducting a vehicle checking at the police check post on the Kundadam-Tirupur section on the Oddanchatram-Tirupur bypass. At that time, two persons who were passing by on a two-wheeler were caught and interrogated.

Having responded contradictorily, they said, the suspected police bought the bag they were carrying and when they checked it, it was found that the bag was full of ganja powder.



They were immediately taken to the police station.



They have been identified as Pandi (38) and Sivakalai (28), both residents of Kanniyampatti near Usilampatti in Madurai district.

Police also seized 8 kg 300 grams of ganja and a two-wheeler used in the smuggling from the arrested persons. According to the investigation, they had purchased ganja from Andhra Pradesh in kilos through parcel truck service and stored it in a hut in a forest edifice near Usilampatti.

As soon as the customers sent a message through WhatsApp, they received the money on GPay. According to the accused, they were travelling on a two-wheeler to Tirupur, Erode, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Dindigul, Karur and other districts without any suspicion.



In this situation, even in rural areas where people cannot go to far-flung villages, perfumes are sprayed on the ganja packet by courier. They also said that they would clean it thoroughly with plastic covers to prevent the smell of cannabis from smelling, powder the cannabis leaves and send them in a parcel.



Moreover, a trader from Palladam from Usilampatti had offered to pay the old dues in person. When we came on a two-wheeler, we were trapped at Dharapuram Eragampatti checkpost on Ottanchatram Road. The accused reportedly told the police that they came in an alternate way and got stuck at the Kundadam check post.

The Kundadam police led by Dharapuram DSP Dhanaraj are investigating the culprits further. Frequent arrests of ganja smugglers in Dharapuram area have created a sensation among the people of Dharapuram area.
