Monkey movement increases at Amanalingeswarar temple near Udumalpet

The tourists, who were terrified by the incidents of monkeys chasing people coming to the Amanalingeswarar temple and Thirumoorthy dam near Thirumoorthy Hills near Udumalpet, have demanded that the monkeys be caged and captured.

Tirupur: Tourists have demanded that monkeys chasing devotees should be caged near Udumalai Amanalingeswarar temple in Tirupur district.

Thirumoorthy Hill is at the foothills of the Western Ghats next to Udumalai. Lords Brahmma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu grace the devotees on the same hill in the Amanalingeswarar temple.

Panchalinga Falls is situated at a height from the foothills of the hill. Apart from this, there are recreational facilities like boat house, children's park, swimming pool, Thirumoorthy dam etc. on the way to the temple. A large number of tourists and devotees visit Thirumoorthy Hill every day to visit them and take a bath in the waterfalls. Hence, Thirumoorthy Malai is one of the best tourist and spiritual destinations in Udumalpet.

The temple is situated at the foot of the forest and a large number of monkeys live there. They are jumping from tree to tree, jumping into the water and swimming, tourists are delighted to see the monkey pranks running here and there.

Especially the children who see monkeys have no limits. As a result, they too were giving the monkeys the food they had brought with them.

In this context, there is a lot of movement of tourists and devotees in the temple area. While the monkeys have seen the food, the public is in fear as the tourists and the public are picking up the food items.

There have also been instances of monkeys chasing if they don't give food at some point of time.

Due to this, the tourists have requested the forest department to capture the monkeys in cages and release them in the forest areas.
