A heartening sight in the Koniamman Temple car festival celebrations for the past decade is the noble gesture of Muslims who distribute water bottles to quench the thirst of Hindu devotees participating in the festival in Coimbatore. Athar Jamaat office bearers were seen standing opposite Pothy's cloth shop to distribute water bottles to devotees even as the temple car weaved its way near the mosque.

The Muslims distributed about 10,000 bottles of drinking water on Thursday alone to symbolise that though people in Coimbatore follow different religions, all are united to serve one another. The Jamaat functionaries stated, "Though we are Hindus or Muslims, all of us are brothers. Just like Ramzan and Bakrid, the Koniamman Temple car festival is also our festival. There is no caste or creed distinction between us. We as Muslims are satiating the thirst of Hindus by giving them water every year. We will continue to do this work as an example of religious harmony.
