Complaint of misappropriation of money in bank account in Tirupur - Retired cops protest with family

A retired policeman along with his family staged a protest in front of a bank in Tirupur against the non-action taken on a complaint of misappropriation of money from a bank account.

Tirupur: Sivakumar hails from MGR Nagar, Samundipuram, Tirupur. He joined the Tamil Nadu Police in 1993. From the day he joined the service till 2010, he received his salary from a state-owned bank. He was transferred to the Railway Police in 2010.

Since then, on the orders of the authorities, he has transferred his salary account to Axis Bank at Uthukuli Road in Tirupur. Sivakumar had been receiving salary in a private bank account till his voluntary retirement as a special SI in 2020. In 2019, Sivakumar had taken a bank loan of Rs 3.50 lakh from a private bank. He used to pay the loan in instalments monthly.

In this case, Sivakumar, after taking voluntary retirement, paid Rs 8.81 lakh in cash benefits from the treasury to the state-owned bank. Also, a few days later, they deposited Rs 9.50 lakh in cash benefits to Shivakumar's Axis Bank account from the treasury. In this case, on 06.08.2021, the loans taken from Axis Bank were outstanding. Sivakumar paid Rs 2.78 lakh in cash and paid off the loan in full.

Even after the loan amount was fully disbursed, Rs 2.78 lakh was allegedly siphoned off from Shivakumar's bank account through a fake receipt and forged signature. Sivakumar also complained that rs 6 lakh was withdrawn from his account through ATMs.

When Sivakumar asked the Axis Bank management about this, he reportedly did not respond properly. Sivakumar has lodged a complaint with the City Central Crime Branch seeking an inquiry into the complaint and taking appropriate action. The police are investigating the matter.

But so far, not even an FIR has been registered. The bank management also did not give a proper reply. He also staged a protest in front of the bank along with his family today alleging that his daughter's marriage was called off due to this money laundering.

However, the bank management has not given any formal information. Sivakumar said he would send a petition to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Complaints Cell and would meet the newly-appointed City Police Commissioner in person and reiterate the matter.

In a shocking incident, money was embezzled in the bank account of a retired policeman.
