Elephant roaming around near Valparai without trunk

Kerala forest department is constantly monitoring the baby elephant which is roaming without a trunk on the Valparai-Chalakkudy road.



Coimbatore: A baby elephant without a trunk is roaming around in the Athirapalli forest area near Valparai in Coimbatore district under the care of a mother elephant.

Elephants are camping in separate herds on the Chalakkudy-Valparai road in Thrissur district of Kerala. On this route, since Athirappilly Falls is located, tourists visit in large numbers.

According to the Kerala forest department, "The baby elephant may not have had a trunk at birth. Or it may have lost its trunk in the attack by other wild animals. But, the baby elephant is healthy and walks with the mother elephant. We are monitoring the movement of the elephant."

The people of the area have demanded that the elephant, which is roaming around without a trunk, should be caught and treated.
