'Logistics and shipping industry offers lucrative career options to students' says, Director -IIL, Coimbatore


As a part of the Logistician's week, a session on "Career Opportunities in Logistics and Shipping" was organized by the Post Graduate and Research Department of International Business of Sree Narayana Guru College of Arts and Science on Wednesday, the 08th February 2017. 

On day one, on the 6th of February, 2017 the topic "Role of Documentation in Logistics Industry" was discussed in detail followed by a session on "Unified Payment Interface" on day two. 



Today, being the third day of the Logistician's week, Dr. K.V.Surendran, Principal presided over the function. Capt. V.J.Pushpakumar, Director, Indian Institute of Logistics, Coimbatore was the resource person for today's session. He highlighted on the present state of the logistics and shipping industry and its emerging job opportunities.

'Logistics and shipping industry offers lucrative career options to the young aspirants. And, that creation of infrastructure in ports will create wealth and employment. Plan for up-gradation of facilities in seaports and airports are on cards' he said.



He also pointed out that M.Com (IB) is a good qualification for cargo handling, cargo consolidation, operations, customer service, etc., Seaports have a lot of commercial and engineering operations. Therefore, growth will survive and there will be a good future for the aspiring students. 

More than 70 students attended the seminar. Dr.M.Saravanan, Assistant Professor of the department organized the function. Ms.T.Vasumathi, Ms.C.Radhapriya, Ms.K.Keerthy, Assistant Professors of the department were present at the session.
