'AIADMK to go on hunger strike in Coimbatore on Dec. 2 to protest against DMK Govt.' S P Velumani

Briefing reporters after a meeting held at the AIADMK office in Coimbatore district to discuss the hunger strike, former Minister S P Velumani accused the DMK Government of stalling the implementation of the schemes in Coimbatore brought in by the AIADMK rule.

Coimbatore: A meeting was held at the Idhayadeivam Maaligai of the AIADMK office in Coimbatore to discuss the hunger strike to be held on December 2 to protest against the DMK government.

Former AIADMK Minister S P Velumani briefed reporters after the meeting saying, “The AIADMK in Coimbatore district will hold a hunger strike on December 2 to protest against the DMK Government. Edappadi K Palanisamy will launch the hunger strike. In Coimbatore especially, all roads have been damaged and people are facing a lot of difficulties. The schemes brought in by the AIADMK are not working and those schemes should be implemented.”

“In one-and-a-half years, the Chief Minister has not made any project for Coimbatore. Former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami gave all the projects asked for, in Coimbatore but the Government has not implemented those schemes. We have given the highest growth in 50 years in 10 years.

During the AIADMK rule, major roads in Coimbatore were expanded. We built many flyovers. We implemented various projects for Coimbatore. There was no mosquito repellent in the Corporation areas. There are no medicines in Government Hospitals. People are suffering due to the increase in taxes. Edappadi Palanisamy met the Governor only for the people. Tamil Nadu's Intelligence agencies are not functioning. The police have failed. The Governor does not belong to any party. The Chief Minister should pay attention to the people's issues,” demanded S P Velumani.

The meeting was attended by AIADMK legislators and office-bearers of Coimbatore district.
