Public petition Collector for electric crematorium to be set up immediately at Othakkal Mandapam in Coimbatore

More than 300 people demanded the immediate setting up of the electric crematorium in the Othakkal Mandapam and submitted a petition at the Coimbatore District Collectorate.



Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Government recently announced the setting up of an electric crematorium at Othakkal Mandapam town panchayat on Pollachi road in Coimbatore district.



Over 300 people from Othakkal Mandapam and its surrounding areas such as Premier Mills and Okkilipalayam arrived at the Coimbatore District Collector's office to submit a petition demanding the immediate setting up of the electric crematorium announced by the Tamil Nadu Government in the Othakkal Mandapam area.



The protesters carried placards and raised slogans in front of the Collectorate in support of their demands.



Earlier, people in the area where the electric crematorium is to be set up have been insisting that there should not be a burial ground at that place.
