Farmer suffering from cancer commits suicide near Coimbatore

In a tragic incident, a farmer suffering from cancer committed suicide by jumping into a well near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district.


Coimbatore: Appusamy, a farmer, was a resident of Velayuthampalayam Kallankaattu Thottam near Kinathukadavu. He was undergoing treatment for throat cancer at a private hospital in Coimbatore.

It is said that Appusamy was depressed as he was unable to drink food and water due to the severity of the disease.

Meanwhile, his son Sakthivel, who had gone out of the house as usual this morning, did not return even after a long time. When he went to a well near the house, he found that Appusamy had committed suicide.



On receiving information about the incident, the fire brigade recovered Appusamy's body and sent it to pollachi government hospital for post-mortem.

Kinathukadavu police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
