Mother's Day is here around the corner! Thinking of doing something useful and compassionate on this Mother's Day? If yes, go ahead! Talk to your mother about preventing breast cancer or enroll her for a breast cancer awareness campaign. Sounds weird? Absolutely no! If you want your mother to be with you for a long time, you have to take an initiative to educate her on this.  Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the world and India is not behind. Once diagnosed, the physical and psychological stress that you have to go through is difficult to explain. Even when breast cancer is a treatable disease, going through the process of treatment is not easy. This includes chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. So, it is better to take steps to prevent breast cancer. Mother's Day is the best day to take your mother to a clinic to have a health checkup. Take this opportunity to show your care and love for her. Let your mother know how special she is and express your love. Go through these tips to help your mother to prevent breast cancer

TIPS
:

Food Habits:

Your mother is always keen to know what you are eating. But, she seldom bothers about her own food habits. So, it is important to let your mother know the importance of taking foods rich in antioxidant to prevent breast cancer.

Take Her For Regular Check-ups

Even when self-examination is in place, it is better to get professional check-ups at least once in a year to make sure that you don't have the disease. This will help to avoid the panic situation of diagnosing it at a later stage.

Self-examination Education:
Breast cancer is a completely curable disease. But, diagnosing it in the early stage is the most important thing. Learn about the correct steps of breast self-examination from a doctor for early detection of any changes. This will help in the detection of the disease at the beginning stage itself.

Exercise

Next time when your mother wakes you up for exercising, ask her to join you. Exercising is very important for reducing weight, which is a risk factor for breast cancer. After menopause, the ovaries stop producing estrogen and the fat cells will take the duty. So, it is important to stay fit.

Watch Your Family History:

Go back to the family history and check whether anybody had breast cancer. Heredity increases the risk factor, but there is nothing to panic. Just follow routine health check-ups and practice a healthy lifestyle.

Limit Hormone Therapy:

After menopause, most women start taking hormone therapy. But, be careful on what you are taking. Follow the instructions of an expert doctor before taking any hormone therapies. Unwanted exposure to hormones will increase the risk of breast cancer.

Educate Her:

If your mother does not know the causes, symptoms or preventive measures of breast cancer, take a time to educate her on this first. You can make a PowerPoint presentation on this and can present this before her. This will provide her with all the knowledge about breast cancer. This is one of the tips to help your mother to prevent breast cancer.

Attend Awareness Classes:

Nowadays, there are many breast cancer awareness campaigns going on. Enroll your mother in one and she will avail maximum benefit out of it. This will be one of the effective tips to help your mother to prevent breast cancer.

Environmental Exposure:
Watch the physical factors that can affect your mother during her day to day activities and cause cancer. This can range from the dish washer used in the kitchen to the makeup products that she has been using. Keep an eye on everything and ask her to go for only branded products that don't contain harmful chemicals.
