A cleanliness drive was held at Thondamuthur Town Panchayat in Coimbatore to mark the one-year anniversary of the People's Movement for Cleanliness of Cities.
The camp, which was held from MGR Nagar to Valayankuttai, cleaned the places with the participation of a large number of people.
They segregated the garbage and created awareness among the public. They cleaned water bodies and storm water drains and planted saplings on the banks of the water body.
They removed hoardings and banners that were put up without permission. They removed construction material and demolition waste that had been dumped without permission. They created awareness about cleanliness work in schools and colleges. Moreover, the sanitation workers took the pledge at the event.
Following this, a special medical camp for sanitation workers and the general public was held at thondamuthur town panchayat office. The event was inaugurated by Thondamuthur Town Panchayat President Kamalam Ravi. The arrangements were made by town panchayat executive officer Ramesh Kumar.
