29 people from the same village tested positive for Covid-19 while a 30-year-old woman succumbed to the virus.
Coimbatore: The locals of a village in the Annur region in Coimbatore contracted the Covid-19 virus and a 30-year old woman in the village died of Covid-19.
Villagers from Chokkattampalli village of Pogalur Panchayat next to Annur in Coimbatore attended a funeral in Sathyamangalam. A special camp was thereafter organized by health officials for the villagers after they returned and were found to be running high temperatures.
Samples were collected from 80 people and those in contact with them, out of which 29 tested positive for Covid-19. A team comprising Regional Health Supervisor, Kannappan, doctors and nurses, led by the Additional Director of Health, Govindraj inspected the village.
Kumaran Nagar, Ganapathi Pudur and Chokkatampalli were sealed and locals were prohibited from stepping out for five days. The area was disinfected and later Ashokan, Regional Development Officer and Deputy Regional Development Officer, Vijayalakshmi inspected the area.
