Coimbatore: Two students and seven teachers in a private school test positive for Covid-19 in Coimbatore.
With offline classes resuming on September 1 for colleges and grades 9 to 11 in schools, after 17 long months post two waves of Covid-19, educational institutions were directed by the Government to conduct regular tests and allow students to attend classes on a rotational basis. Students were tested for Covid-19 every day with parents also being directed to get both doses of the vaccine to avoid risks.
However, a few students and teachers tested positive for Covid-19 despite the precautions taken. 87 students and a teacher had tested positive thus far in Coimbatore, Pollachi, Sulur, and Mettupalayam areas. Now, seven teachers, one student of Grade 11, one student of Grade 12 of a private school have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19. The school management immediately declared a holiday and disinfected the school. The school’s name has not been disclosed for the privacy of other students and parents.
