The clarification from the officials involved in the Covid duty comes days after when the district stopped home quarantine for new Covid patients earlier when the case was skyrocketing in the district and with lack of beds available to admit patients.
But the cases in the district has been reduced to below 700 now and the beds are available for asymptomatic patients to undergo treatment.
Citing this, officials have now asked persons testing positive for the virus but are asymptomatic to seek admission in hospitals and Covid care centres for treatment.
It was reported that home quarantine was stopped for the persons from Sulur, Thondamuthur, Karamadai, Periyanaickanpalayam and Madukkarai before in the district following high case loads.
Now, the move to admit asymptomatic persons come in wake of this and also because the officials found some of them to violate safety norms.
Sources say they the asymptomatic persons are not following safety norms and violate it by moving out, allegedly spreading the virus to others. And to stop that, the officials now directed them to undergo at least a week of treatment in nearby Covid care centres or hospitals.
It is also instructed that they, after returning home testing negative, should not venture out unnecessarily and should remain indoors for 14days as per quarantine rule.
At present, close to 1,000 Covid patients are undergoing home quarantine in the district.
