At 33.38% , Coimbatore’s test positivity rate shows slight decline six days while cases continue do fall steadily
Coimbatore: Coimbatore’s daily Covid-19 test positivity rate has started showing a decline since May 24, on which the district recorded it’s highest test positivity rate of 45.82 % where the total number of daily cases touched 4000 and above. The positivity rate has now come down to 33.8% in six days, thanks to the strict measures taken to stop people movement including lockdown.
Number of fresh cases has also come down from 4,734 to 3,488 in three days. Though it’s untold by the officials as to how many testings are being done in the district daily, they also say that the decline in TPR is because of the containment strategies that they have taken. Earlier, Simplicity had reported that the health officials were on a plan to restrict people movement and to pace up testing reaching doorsteps. Officials, when asked, pointed out the same reason for the decline in cases. However, the corporation limit crossed more than 700 containment zones on Monday.
The growth rate of active case trends in Coimbatore, according to Vijayanand, a Covid analyst, is 33%, and is flattening. He also said the active cases will start to drop in one or two days. Recently, the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who visited Coimbatore assured that the cases are likely to come down further with the officials working full fledged.
