Covid-19 testing has been increased from 3,000 to 6,000.
Coimbatore: A second wave of Covid-19 cases is on the rise in Coimbatore and the corporation officials are taking serious measures to contain the virus spread.
As a result of the various samples collected in Coimbatore yesterday, 332 people turned Covid-19 positive yesterday. Due to this the total number of Covid-19 cases in Coimbatore district has reached 61,162.
A 36 old woman who was receiving treatment for Covid-19 at the Government Hospital passed away failing to respond to the treatment. Accordingly a total of 698 people in Coimbatore have died because of Covid-19 so far.
Almost 2,767 Covid-19 positive patients are receiving treatment at government and private hospitals. In that around 150 members have gone home after successful treatment.
District Healthcare officials said " The number of Covid-19 virus cases is on the rise in Coimbatore and people not following the government guidelines and restrictions is one of the major reasons behind it.
We have increased testing from 3,000 to 6,000 in Coimbatore. Last week we had around 1 lakh vaccines arrive in Coimbatore. Further to avoid spreading we request everyone to wear face masks mandatorily. Heavy fines will be imposed on those who refuse to follow these guidelines. Around 80 plus people are undergoing home quarantine. We have been monitoring them continuously."
