Coimbatore: Minutes after the state government’s fresh restrictions were published due tothe surge in Covid19 cases, the corporation commissioner of Coimbatore Kumaravel Pandian issued guidelines for containment zones, restrictions for public gathering.
Following the alarming state of daily fresh case in Coimbatore, the commissioner has urged the people to avoid gathering in groups unnecessarily.
“Every shop or an organisation must have sanitizer along with pulse oximeter. They should not just provide sanitizer but check people’s oxygen level using pulse oximeter, in order to bring down the fresh case†the commissioner said while addressing the media.
Saying there are chances for the daily case to increase further, the commissioner requested the senior citizens to avoid stepping out of their house unless it is emergency.
The fresh cases being recorded in Coimbatore is between 180-220 per day, said the Commisioner, adding that the corporation has planned to do a mobile vaccination in the city limit starting April 15th, to bring down the case.
The hotspots in the city limit has been increased to 19 since the last few months.
As per the new guidelines, for a house upto three cases of COVID-19, will be sealed and not the whole street, said Kumaravel Pandian about the containment zone. So far 35 containment zones are there in city limit, he added.
Of the 35 containment zones, there are 11, 10, 10, 2 and 2 containment zones in North, East, West and South, respectively.
The commissioner told there won’t be any door to door testing like earlier as people are now aware of it.
As many as three Covid care centres are there in the city at present. However, the corporation have also asked the CMCH to increase the bed facilities to two hundred with the raising numbers. There are 400 and above beds are at CMCH.
The corporation have also provided 50,227 jabs of Covid-19 vaccines from 32 healthcare institutions including PHC.
Further, the commissioner instructed the schools that are functioning offline to follow government order and teach online. He also issued warnings against shops and organizations for flouting rules.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Coimbatore yesterday stood at 332, standing at the third highest increase in daily cases in Tamil Nadu.
The district recorded one death and 150 patients being discharged, while the umber of patients under treatment was at 2767. Over all Coimbatore recorded 61162 cases so far. Of which 57699 of them being discharge and 696 fatalities. The active case was at 2767.
Coimbatore is placed at the top three over the recent surge in cases. However, Chennai and Chengalpet have been registering more number of cases.
