Coimbatore: Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman inaugurated the Coronavirus vaccination drive in Pollachi. Dry run for coronavirus vaccination were held at various places across Tamil Nadu last week. Following that, the vaccination drive has begun today and 73,200 coronavirus vaccines required for Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and Nilgiris districts in the Coimbatore region were brought to the office of the Deputy Director of Health at the Racecourse, Coimbatore on the 13th afternoon. 40 thousand 600 vaccines have been kept ready for administering in Coimbatore in the first phase of the vaccination drive.
Vaccination for frontline staff in Pollachi
The Pollachi Government Hospital has started vaccinating frontline workers including doctors and health workers today which was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman. The first injection was given to the Government Hospital Surgeon Dr. Karthikeyan. Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman said that the first step is to vaccinate the frontline staff in order to give people the confidence.

He said, "The Chief Minister has announced that steps will be taken to vaccinate all sections of the people in Tamil Nadu. Public should not believe the rumors circulating about the vaccine and must remain hopeful."


Health department officials said, Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital, Sulur, Mettupalayam, Pollachi Government Hospitals and Nallattipalayam Government Primary Health Center have been selected for the first phase of vaccination for health workers in the Coimbatore district.
He said, "On the first day a total of 500 people are vaccinated at the rate of 100 people per center based on their preference. Details of the health workers who will be vaccinated have already been uploaded on the website."
