Special wards at Government Hospital as dengue fever continues to rise in Coimbatore: Dean Dr. Kalidas
Coimbatore: Dean Dr. Kalidas has informed that special wards are set up at Government Hospital as dengue fever continues to rise in Coimbatore.
Dengue is affecting urban and suburban areas due to heavy rains in Coimbatore district. Dengue prevention activities have been intensified on behalf of the health department and awareness on dengue is being created among the public in various places. The number of patients coming for treatment for dengue fever at the Coimbatore Government Hospital has started to increase following which a special ward has been set up at the hospital. In December alone, 39 people were treated at the government hospital.
It is to be noted that 12 people have been treated in the last 10 days. According to Dean Dr. Kalidas 4 people are currently receiving treatment at the Coimbatore Government Hospital due to dengue fever and a special ward is set up for children with dengue. Each of these wards has 10 bed facilities and people with dengue symptoms are treated there. He also added that a special medical team has been formed for treating dengue.
