Covid-19 vaccine dry run is scheduled to happen across five districts in Tamil Nadu namely Chennai, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Tiruvallur.
Coimbatore: Tamilnadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and Urban Development Minister SP Velumani inaugurated the vaccine dry run sites after the inaugural function of 13th Kovai Vizha, with a helicopter showering flowers.
After the event, Tamilnadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar who addressed the media said that over 47,200 designated vaccine centres are set up in every district across the state and the vaccine centre at ESI hospital in Coimbatore will provide its services to more than 25 members in 2 hours. He further added that it can vaccinate even 100 people per day depending on the availability of members.

Tamilnadu Health Minister Vijayabaskar said that the AIADMK government is doing all the necessary steps to combat the Covid-19 virus and that is the reason behind why the vaccine dry run is made mandatory.
He also said that 5 vaccine dry run sites scheduled in Coimbatore and the dry run will be held in hospitals namely CMCH, ESI, PSG, Government Hospital Sulur, SLM home urban primary health centre and Pooluvapatti community health centre, where five members staff will be present throughout the run.

Minister Vijayabaskar also said that the first vaccine dry run is all set to begin with the registered health workers which will be followed by the general public. It is estimated that over six lakh health workers have been registered for the dry run from across the state.
He further said that Tamil Nadu is the only state that has done the highest number of RTPCR tests in the country and added that it is because of efficient ruling under Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy.
“ European countries are still under lockdown fighting for their livelihood but Tamil Nadu is doing extremely well and the infection positive rate has come down. Coimbatore alone has done 70 lakh RTPCR tests while the state has crossed more than 1.4 crore tests.†said Health Minister Vijayabaskar.
Identification of members to be confirmed first before getting vaccinated. Members will be marked and checked after getting vaccinated. Besides this observation rooms are being set to do follow up procedures.
Health Minister C Vijayabaskar in his address quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi who asked all other states to learn from Tamil Nadu on how to stop the spread.
He also said that the new strain has become a new worry and assured that the state ministry along with health care experts are doing their best to stop the new strain spread.
