Can the newly developed Covid-19 vaccination help us battle the new strain?

Researchers have found the new strain to be extremely contagious with a higer possible death rate.


Coimbatore: Covid-19 virus which was responsible for the global pandemic has affected people at every corner of the world. This Covid-19 virus has now taken a new turn and has now turned into a mutated Covid-19 virus strain which has been causing chaos not only in England but in other countries too.

SARS-CoV-2, the new virus is different in shape when compared to the shape of the Covid-19 virus. The new mutated Covid-19 virus is named VUI2020/01. Covid-19 virus is said have mutated 23 times but this strain is affecting people more because of the spike protein in it which helps it invade human cells.

Researchers have found the new strain to be extremely contagious with a higer possible death rate.

While the newly developed vaccination help?

The vaccination developed my Pfizer and Moderna were based on the size and shape of the old Covid-19 strain.

Since the new SARS-Cov-2 virus has a change in its shape with a new protein spike from the mutation it definitely a big question that wheather the vaccine will help cure the new strain.We will have to wait and watch to learn more about the effectiveness of the new VUI2020/01.
