World Water Day: From aiding weight loss to preventing migraines, 7 benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach

* The importance of water cannot be denied. Water is an essential part of living and survival. In order to highlight its importance, every year on March 22, World Water Day is celebrayed. This year the theme is ‘Nature for Water’ – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the present scenario. On this day, we bring to you 7 benefits of drinking safe water.

It can help get rid of the accumulated waste in the body and enables faster absorption of nutrients. It further protects and hydrates the vital organs and helps in proper functioning of the body.

* Water helps in regulating the digestive tract and if anyone has gastritis, drinking 3 glasses on an empty stomach helps reduce the level of acidity. Practicing this daily also helps in cleaning the bowel and keeps you healthy.

* Drinking one or two glasses of water early in the morning helps in eliminating toxins and other unwanted substances from our body. Furthermore, it prevents bloating and help in detoxifying the body. It helps in speeding up the metabolism rate, which in turn is good for digestion and is beneficial for the immune system.

* Drinking more water on an empty stomach while you are on a diet helps lose weight much faster because water doesn't have calories. Since drinking a lot of water helps in boosting the metabolism rate, it burns out calories and thus reduces weight.

* One of the main reasons people suffer from frequent migraine attacks is dehydration. Not drinking sufficient water leads to headaches. Drinking water after you wake up helps prevent this and also eliminates exhaustion, thus boosting energy.

* Since drinking water helps in cleaning the bowels, it makes you feel hungry at frequent intervals, which is good for your health.

* Drinking two glasses of water on an empty stomach helps maintain the elasticity of the skin and makes the skin look younger and reduces wrinkles.
