World Physical Therapy Day: Say goodbye to your sedentary lifestyle

New Delhi: Most of us know that regular exercise and physical activity are good for health and can help us live longer. But the benefits an individual would yeild depend on the regularity of fitness regime, regardless of the level of exercise.

Medicos say that it has various other miraculous benefits such as improvement of lung functions, speedy tissue healing and is helpful in healing burns also.

At least 60 minutes of physical activity for children daily and 150 minutes of activity for adults weekly is a must to stave off non-communicable diseases, recommends the World Health Organisation.



While there are a plethora of reasons to involve physical activity in our daily life, here are a few of them to consider:

Regular physical activity controls weight

It improves your overall health

It reduces your risk of many chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and some cancers

It lowers your blood pressure and keeps your cholesterol at healthy range

It improves your self-esteem and mental health.

So, bid adieu to the sedentary lifestyle and make the best use of exercise and physical activity in to stay healthy and prevent all kinds of illness.
