V. Vignesh rose to the occasion as Cosmopolitan Club scored a 26-16 win over Annur Tennis Club to enter the semifinal of the Coimbatore Premier Tennis League (CPTL) at The R.S. Puram Club courts here on Monday.
Veterans Vijayan (Annur Club) and Sree Hari (Cosmopolitan Club) were locked in a keen tussle at the start, but the former held his nerve to get the better of Sree Hari 5-4.
Sudesh Reddy and Murali pulled one back for Cosmopolitan Club, defeating Vijayan and Nandakumar 5-2 in the doubles event.
At this juncture, Vignesh, an ITF star, proved his class in the senior section.
He thrashed Giri Ram 5-0 and from there it was Cosmopolitan Club all the way.
