In the football match hosted by the DMK IT wing in Pollachi, Tirupur beat Thrissur 3-0 to bag the first prize.
Coimbatore: A five-a-side football match was held in Pollachi on behalf of the Coimbatore South District Information Technology Wing to celebrate the 44th birthday of DMK Youth Wing Secretary, Udhayanidhi Stalin and to promote football.
The competition was held under the leadership of Manimaran, Deputy Organizer, IT Wing. Former DMK District Officer, Thenral Selvaraj kick-started the match.
36 teams from various districts of Tamil Nadu including Kerala, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Tiruchengode and Tenkasi participated in the match. Palladam-Tirupur team qualified for the semi-finals of the knockout stage, while the Palakkad-Thrissur team clashed in another division. Tirupur and Thrissur qualified for the finals. Tirupur beat Thrissur 3-0 to secure the first place.

The winning team was awarded Rs 15,000 as the first prize, while the runners-up won Rs. 10,000 and the team that came in third won Rs. 5,000, along with trophies.
