224.8 kg of Gutka seized in a car near Coimbatore Thadagam - guest workers arrested

Coimbatore: Police seized 224.8 kg of gutka smuggled in a car during a patrol near Coimbatore Thadagam. Youth from Rajasthan arrested for smuggling banned products.

Police were engaged in a vehicle search today near Coimbatore Thadagam. Then, when the car coming from Kovilpalayam was stopped and checked, it was revealed that there was a bundle of Gutka goods in it.

Lakshmanan (22), Madan Singh (22) and Inder Kumar (24) from Rajasthan were arrested for smuggling Gutka goods.



In the first phase of the investigation, Lakshmanan had been in a grocery store in the Kurumbapalayam area for the past 4 years. He had been working with Madan Singh and had not had enough work and income during the Corona period. Talking to a friend, he said he had been buying goods from Bangalore and was involved in retail.

It has been revealed that the three had taken a room near the temple and bought a car worth about Rs 4 lakh and were involved in selling Gutka.

Following this, the police seized 224.8 kg of Gutka items from them, arrested the three, produced them before a judge and remanded them in custody.
