Delay in performing autopsy: Relatives of deceased girl besiege hospital in Palladam

Relatives besieged the Palladam Government Hospital, claiming that autopsy was delayed unnecessarily for their 10-year-old girl.

Tiruppur: Relatives besieged the Palladam Government Hospital due to delay in performing autopsy for the body of a girl who was killed in the accident.

Karthikeyan hails from the Velappagoundanvalavu next to Palladam in Tirupur district and works in a Private company. His wife is Kalaivani and daughter Darshana (10).

Karthikeyan left for Chennai in a car with his wife and daughter on the 21st. Karthikeyan's car allegedly collided with a car parked near Perambalur. While Darshana was seriously injured, Kalaivani sustained minor injuries.

Both were admitted to a private hospital near Perambalur for treatment. Doctors said yesterday that Darshana had been undergoing treatment for the past one week and had suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Following that, they took Darshana by ambulance yesterday to Palladam. Doctors said by the time she reached Palladam private hospital she was already dead.

Her body was brought to Palladam Government Hospital. Following this, the doctors are said to have asked for the relevant documents from the police station in the area where the accident took place for autopsy.

Doctors have said that Darshana's body will be taken to Tirupur Government Hospital after the relatives bring the documents. As a result, more than 100 people (relatives and friends of the family) besieged the Palladam Government Hospital, claiming that doctors were delaying autopsy.

Palladam police who arrived at the scene after receiving the information were engaged in talks with the relatives. Relatives abandoned the protest following assurances that she would be taken to Tirupur Government Hospital where she will be given an autopsy. This caused a stir at Palladam Government Hospital area for some time.
