Car and truck collide on Pollachi-Udumalai road killing two persons

A 70-year-old woman who was walking on the road at the time of the collision died on the spot.


Coimbatore: Five persons from the Kurumbapalayam area near Coimbatore were travelling in a car to their relative's house on Pollachi-Udumalai road, near Unjavelampatti, when their car collided with a truck that was trying to cross the road.

Two persons including a 70-year-old woman who was walking on the road at the time was killed in the car-truck collision.

Kodainayakam, Maragathavadivu, Mahalakshmi, a 7-year-old boy from Coimbatore and Kaviyarasu who was driving the car were injured in the incident.



Passers-by rescued the injured and rushed them to the Pollachi Government Hospital. Kodainayakam died on the way to the hospital. Four of the injured are being treated at a private hospital.

The Pollachi East Police have registered a case and are investigating the identity of the 70-year-old deceased.
