It has been decided at the consultative meeting that a huge rally will be held by the farmers if the Government does not shelve the project to divert water from the Aliyar Dam to Oddanchatram.
Coimbatore: A consultative meeting with the New Strategic Irrigation farmers was held at Kariyanchettipalayam near Pollachi.
The meeting was chaired by Senthil, Secretary, New Strategic Irrigation Farmers' Association, Chairman Ashok Kumar and Treasurer Kannimuthu. The meeting was attended by a large number of new strategic irrigation farmers.

Since a petition had also been filed with the Pollachi Sub-Collector, Thakare Shubham Dnyandeorao, the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran, Water Resources Secretary and the Minister of Water Resources, Duraimurugan urging them to abandon the project of diverting water from the Aliyar Dam to the Oddanchatram area in Dindigul district. In case the project is not shelved, the New Strategic Irrigation Farmers' Association members decided at the meeting that a huge rally would be organised to protest against the project.
