SimpliCity News Video instigates Panchayat administration to clear 8-month pile of garbage at Slum Clearance Board housing units in city's Keeranatham area

After months of inhaling toxic smoke and repugnant odour, the residents of Keeranatham Slum Clearance Board housing units are finally breathing a sigh of relief as well as pure air.



Coimbatore: Housing units owned by the Slum Clearance Board in Keeranatham Panchayat, next to Saravanampatti in Coimbatore comprises 1200 houses in 6 blocks. For over eight months, residents of these housing units have been lamenting that garbage had not been disposed of in the area and hence residents were at risk of contracting diseases.

In a detailed video news story by SimpliCity on May 23, the residents lamented their plight. They alleged that it was ironic that the residential areas of sanitary workers themselves were not being cleaned and hence they had to resort to setting fire to the garbage for the past eight months. The residents also complained of respiratory problems and alleged that no action had been taken thus far with regard to their various complaints.



In the wake of the news story by SimpliCity, all the garbage piled at the Keeranatham Slum Clearance Board housing units complex was cleared on Wednesday on behalf of the Panchayat administration.
