Police arrest a man and seize 3.5 kg cannabis from him in Valparai

Police arrested the man who sold the cannabis, filed a case against him and lodged him in jail.


Coimbatore: Police have arrested a man for selling 3.5 kg cannabis in Valparai.

The Valparai police have been taking serious measures to curb the illegal sale of liquor and cannabis in the Valparai area of Coimbatore district. On receiving information that a man was selling cannabis in the Valparai Kamarajar Nagar area, the police inspected the area and found a man standing alone on the side of the road, with a bag in his hand which raised their suspicion.

Subsequently, the man was taken to the police station for interrogation after his bag with 3.5 kg cannabis was seized. Following this, the police investigation led by Inspector Karpagam arrested and filed a case against the man who was identified as Mariyadas alias Das, for selling cannabis. The police also warned of stern action against illegal cannabis dealers and peddlers, which could lead to arrest.
