Police arrest man in Coimbatore for smuggling 420 kg of ration rice from Pollachi to Kerala

The police checked the car which revealed that 420 kg of ration rice in 12 sacks weighing 35 kg each, was being smuggled in the car from Pollachi to Kerala.


Coimbatore: The police have seized 420 kg of ration rice from a man who was smuggling rice sacks in a car, from Pollachi to Kerala.

Due to the increase in ration rice smuggling cases from Coimbatore, the Civil Crimes Investigation Department has been taking serious measures to curb the illegal trade. When the police received confidential information that ration rice was being smuggled in Makkinampatti, a team of police officials led by Inspector Gopinath conducted a vehicle search in the Makkinampatti area, on Tuesday.



The police stopped a car and did a routine check which revealed that 420 kg of ration rice in 12 sacks weighing 35 kg each was being smuggled in the car from Pollachi to Kerala. The police arrested Ranjith, the car driver and confiscated his car and the rice sacks.
