Youth dies as two-wheeler collides onto barrier on Mettupalyam Road near city's Thudiyalur area

The youth, a Chennai-based IT employee had returned to his home in Vellalore recently to work from home.


Coimbatore: An IT employee lost his life in a tragic accident when he was on his way back home after visiting friends in Thudiyalur area of Coimbatore.

Shanmugam's son Deekshith (26) who hails from Annai Sathya Nagar area of Vellalore, Coimbatore worked for a Chennai IT company. Currently working from home, Deekshith relocated to Vellalore for the past few months. He visited Thudiyalur frequently to see his friends and as usual after one such visit on Monday, Deekshith was returning home on his two wheeler on Mettupalayam Road, when he lost control of his two-wheeler and collided onto a barrier in the middle of the road.

The youth was thrown off his two-wheeler onto the road, leaving him seriously injured. Passers-by rescued Deekshith and sent him to a nearby private hospital. Doctors at the hospital recommended Deekshith be shifted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital due to excessive bleeding. Subsequently, Deekshith was shifted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The Thudiyalur police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
