Police confiscated sacks of ration rice and wheat, and grinders from the illegal hoarders.
Coimbatore: In Pollachi, the police have registered a case and arrested two illegal hoarders for selling ration rice and wheat as ground flour.
The Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Division in Pollachi received a tip-off that goods including ration rice and wheat were being illegally hoarded, ground as flour and sold. Following this, Inspector Gopinath and a team of police officials conducted a surprise check at a grinding mill in the 1st street of Maniyan Garden on Coimbatore Road. It was discovered that ration rice and wheat were being illegally hoarded and ground as flour and sold.
Police confiscated 1710 kg of ration rice which was stored in 25 bundles weighing 45 kg, and 540 kg of ration wheat stored in 12 bundles weighing 45 kg. They also confiscated the grinder.
The police have arrested 30-year-old Mohammed and 36-year-old Imtiaz for illegally hoarding the ration items. They are also on the lookout for Imran, the mill owner who had been an accomplice in the illegal racket.
