Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner warns of serious danger to motorists due to cattle roaming on the roads - hefty fines, legal action and confiscation of cattle on the cards

He said that if the cattle roam on the roads from June 1, they will be caught by the corporation employees and fined at least Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000.


Coimbatore: Livestock causing traffic congestion and road accidents on the Coimbatore Corporation Road has become a serious public nuisance and danger.

Moreover, it is a great hindrance to the public. Therefore, those who have livestock (sheep, cows, horses) are advised to keep them indoors.

If the cattle have been roaming on the roads outside after 1st of June, the cattle will be confiscated by the employees of the corporation and fined at least Rs.5,000 to Rs.25,000.

Also, the cattle will be released only after the fine is paid. Livestock that are left unpaid will be sent to pastures. It is reported that a lawsuit will be filed against its owners.

Therefore, it is advisable to keep livestock in their own homes, said Raja Gopal Sungara, commissioner of the corporation.
