Coimbatore Mettupalayam: A car overturned on Ooty road, killing one and injuring 4

On his way to Wayanad after visiting the Velankanni temple with his family, his car overturned on the 3rd hairpin bend on the Mettupalayam-Ooty road.


Coimbatore: A man was killed on the spot when his car overturned on the third bend of the Mettupalayam-Ooty road while he was on his way to his hometown near Wayanad in Kerala after visiting the Velankanni temple with his family.

Jose (65), his son Jobesh (35), Jobesh's daughter Anamika (9), Abraham's son Thomas (68) and Sebastian's son George (60) from Wayanad Kanikulam House area of Kerala went to Velankanni templeon the 16th. They were returning home yesterday after performing prayers.

The car was driven by Jobesh. At around 5.30 this morning, the car lost control and fell into a 30-foot ditch near the 3rd hairpin bend on the Mettupalayam-Ooty road. Jose (65), who was traveling in the car, died on the spot.



Also traveling in the car were Jobesh, Anamika, Thomas and George who were injured. Immediately, Mettupalayam Sub-Inspector Balamurugan, Mettupalayam Police Inspector Shanmugam, Assistant Inspectors Damodaran and Selvanayagam rushed to the spot and rescued the victims and sent them to Mettupalayam Government Hospital for treatment.

Also, the car that fell into the ditch was recovered by poclain machines. Later, the body of the deceased Jose was recovered and sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. Police came to the spot and the investigation is ongoing.
