The tragic suicide of a police officer has caused a stir in the Sirumugai Alangombu area in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Damodaran (41), a Chief Constable and driver at the Mettupalayam DSP Office is the son of Balraj from Vilankurichi area of Thoothukudi district.
Damodaran and Priya have been married for the past 14 years and have a daughter, Premitha (13) and a son, Karthik (8), and lived with his family in the Sirumugai Alangombu area near Mettupalayam.
Damodaran is said to have been under stress for the past few days and after returning home on the day of the incident, he is said to have ended his life by hanging himself. Since the door of his house was locked for a long time on Wednesday morning, Damodaran's neighbours looked through the window of his home and were shocked to find him hanging. The neighbours immediately informed the Sirumugai Police.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered Damodaran's body, and sent it to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital for autopsy. The police are investigating the suicide to ascertain if Damodaran faced family issues or if there was any other reason for him to take such an extreme step of ending his life.
